WHY ATTEND CONFERENCES?

Thousands of students, postdocs, laboratory research staffs and engineers, and faculty members attend multiple conferences, around the globe, on a wide variety of disciplines and topics and/or disseminate their work in these conferences every year. Many of these conferences open up programs for students and postdocs, e.g., tutorials on emerging fields of studies and research, one-to-one interaction with the researchers and industrial personnels. Furthermore, they offer unique interactions with the peers in their respective fields at home and abroad. While all of the conferences are costly, many of them offer a variety of discounts to students and postdoc speakers, and provide funds to students (some time to postdocs and retired members)in the name of travel grants and awards. Some students are lucky to secure the best presentation awards coupled cash.

It is vital for any researchers, to promote conferences to students, either to motivate them to do research or to provide them with unique opportunities for networking with the researchers and industry partners working in similar fields at home and abroad. In the short term, it needs time and effort in the application process and also in finding funds, however, in the long run, the experience will be not only beneficial for participants but also for the School’s academic and research reputation and in its international presence. Below, please find a short list of conferences in material research. Please check back to see for further updates soon.
